Human Resources Manager

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and manage overall Human Resources programs and assures compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity and related employee-focused regulations.
  • Advise management with appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.  
  • Conduct investigations and make recommendations on remedies where appropriate. 
  • Effectively respond to inquiries regarding interpretation of policies, procedures, programs, compensation and benefits.  Assist in policy development when needed.  
  • Implement and maintain HR policies and procedures including communications, postings and Employee Handbook.  Provide guidance and coaching to supervisory staff regarding HR policies and keep abreast of new labor laws and other related information.
  • Assist with the performance management process for assigned business areas, including coaching on performance-related issues and performance appraisal administration. 
  • Support managers with talent development/succession plans and employees with the creation of individual development plans as needed.
  • Partner with the recruiting team and hiring managers in interviewing candidates and formulating employment offers.
  • Serve as liaison between corporate benefits representatives and immediate community to provide benefit plan interpretation, guidance and coaching.   
  • Serve as the Chairperson for the Health and Safety Committee.
  • Manage Workers Compensation plan.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Compliance with all applicable environmental laws and permits.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:  

  • BA/BS degree in HR related field or Equivalent Experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive work experience in Generalist/Human Resources Manager role.
  • Must be able to pass all required background and Clearance requirements.
  • Advanced computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs (Outlook, Work, PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to listen to others and value opinions, interpret information, promote and execute ideas.  
  • Capable of interacting with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and meet deadlines and must be detail-oriented and organized with the ability to prioritize; and attend/participate in meetings presenting a team player approach.
  • Must maintain high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.  
  • Position continually requires demonstrated discretion, tact and diplomacy.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands key skills and abilities include coaching, influencing, facilitation, analysis and problem solving.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Proactive and takes ownership for producing positive results.
  • Keeps commitments; exhibits candor and courage - is not afraid to establish a visible presence and point of view and to hold others accountable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • Occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; speak clearly and hear efficiently.  
  • Employees must occasionally lift and/or move up to, in excess of 25/55 pounds.  

TRAVEL:  

  • Ability to travel 30% or more of the time.  
  • Availability to travel on short notice to meet immediate business needs would be required.
